You Got Me Singing In The Shower (Shea Moisture Review)

Hello loves! This message is brought to you by Shea Moisture. Totally kidding, it's not, but I am going to be talking about its products, which I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with. I love some of their products, and will vouch for them to the ends of the earth. Others though....not so much.

When I first started taking care of my hair, I had no idea about shampoos and conditioners, or about detangling my crazy hair. I used the cheapest shampoo on the market, which was super loyal to my hair and stuck with me through the rollercoasters I put it through. As I got older and started caring more about my hair, as well as the things I put in it, I stumbled upon Shea Moisture.

I just have to say, it was love at first wash. Seriously. I used their Detox and Refresh Detangler (the green bottle pictured above) after washing my hair, and for the first time in forever, I was able to actually detangle my hair. It seriously felt like a miracle, and for anyone who has a sensitive scalp which makes detangling a pain, then you know how I feel. Since then I have been in love with this detangler. It feels kind of tingly on the scalp because of the mint, which is a bit of a weird sensation, but it adds a whole lot of needed moisture to my forever dry strands. Its also a bit pricy at $12 a bottle, but its worth it because it has lasted me several months and it gets the job done.

Another detangler I've gotten my hands on is the 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Leave-In Treatment. I LOVE the scent of this, mostly because it smells tropical and coconuty. I seriously spray it on whenever I just want to feel like I'm on a tropical island (if that smells like heavenly coconut). When it comes to actually detangling my hair, its not the best. I think it works better as a frizz controller, since after using it my hair had a million times less frizz than it normally would after washing it (another miracle), but my hair was still dry and knots were still present. For the smell alone I would by oodles and oodles of this stuff, but aside from that I'd have to keep using it to see if I'd buy it again. (I will update this post if my opinion changes!).

The last thing on this list is the Manuka Honey Intensive Hydration Shampoo. I liked the idea of this shampoo, what with the giving back and promises of hydrated hair. It flirted with my shopping cart many times until I finally took the plunge and bought it. What I like about it is that it does not leave my hair feeling bone dry when I shampoo, which was great. What I didn't like was the fact that it sucked at removing build up from my hair, which ended up contributing to massive knots that were insanely hard to remove (that first detangler was a major help though). I also didn't like the tingly feeling that my scalp had, which was a completely different feeling from the Detox and Refresh detangler. Since then, my scalp has been super irritated with me, meaning that this shampoo is just not my friend. Of course, this is completely my experience, and I may just be allergic to one of its ingredients, so there's no shade to the shampoo itself. And the worst part? I threw away the receipt as soon as I bought it because I thought it would be just as awesome as the other products. $12 down the drain.

That's my experience with Shea Moisture. I've heard of other products from this brand that people absolutely swear by, so as soon as I get rich I'll be sure to check them out. I hope this opens your mind a little bit about natural products for hair and beauty, and gives you a glimpse of what these bad boys offer. As I discover more, I'll definitely be posting about it, so keep your eyes open for that!

With love,

.
